Takes about a minute. Our Sydney team calls you back with the battery size that suits your bill and what the rebate takes off.

The rebate by battery size

How much comes off your battery.

Bigger batteries get more off in total. The amount per kWh (the unit a battery’s size is measured in) tapers above 14kWh and stops at 50kWh.

Battery sizeInstalled by 31 Dec 2026Installed by 30 Jun 2027
10kWh$2,540*$2,130*
18kWh$4,170*$3,490*
28kWh$5,690*$4,770*

*Indicative. The rebate is paid in government certificates, so the amount moves with the certificate price on the day and your battery’s usable capacity. Your quote shows the exact figure.

Who’s eligible

Four conditions, and we handle three of them.

  • Installed with solar

New panels or the ones already on your roof.

  • Between 5 and 100kWh

That's the size on the box. The discount is paid on the first 50kWh you can use.

  • An approved battery

On the Clean Energy Council's approved list. Every battery we install is.

  • An accredited installer

Solar Accreditation Australia accredited. Ours is S2915084.

What changes on 1 January 2027

$4,170* becomes $3,490* on an 18kWh battery.

The rebate drops on 1 January 2027 and again on 1 July 2027. It's the install date that counts, not the day you sign.

Book the install before the change, and ask what happens to your price if it slips.

How SIPENERGY applies it

The rebate is on your quote, not a form you chase.

We’re the accredited installer, so we take the rebate off the price before you sign. Your quote shows the battery, the rebate and what you pay.

Tell us what you pay for power each quarter and we’ll tell you what size battery suits the house. Sigenergy is the brand we recommend first, then GoodWe and Sungrow, and we fit the Tesla Powerwall 3 on request.

The NSW Government’s own battery discount ended on 1 July 2025. The federal rebate on this page is the one that applies in NSW now.

Frequently asked

The NSW battery rebate, answered.

How much is the battery rebate in NSW?

$4,170* off an 18kWh battery installed with solar by 31 Dec 2026, and $2,540* off a 10kWh battery. From 1 January 2027 those drop to $3,490* and $2,130*.

Is there still a NSW battery rebate?

Not a separate one. The NSW Government's battery discount ended on 1 July 2025, when the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program started. The federal discount is the one that applies to a battery installed in NSW now.

Do I need solar panels to get the battery rebate?

Yes. The battery has to be connected to solar: panels already on your roof, or new ones installed at the same time.

Do I claim the rebate back after the install?

No. The accredited installer takes it off your quote, so the price you sign is the price after the rebate.

Does the signing date or the install date decide the rebate?

The install date. Sign before 1 January 2027 but have the battery installed after it, and you get the lower amount.
