Homes in Elizabeth Bay
What we check on a Elizabeth Bay home.
Every house is different, but homes in Elizabeth Bay raise the same few questions. We answer them on the site visit, before you see a price.
Mostly apartments
About 99% of homes in Elizabeth Bay are flats or apartments (2021 Census). Panels or a battery on common property need the owners corporation's approval, so tell us about your building and we'll tell you what the committee will want to see.
On the harbour
Some battery and inverter makers reduce warranty cover close to salt water. In Elizabeth Bay we check how far your home is from the water against the maker's manual, then put the battery where the warranty holds, often in the garage or on a sheltered wall.
Heritage rules we design to
Parts of Elizabeth Bay are in heritage conservation areas (Elizabeth and Rushcutters Bays, which covers most of the suburb). The City of Sydney's solar guideline wants panels flush with the roof and at least 300mm from the ridge, no inverters or conduit on show, and no battery on a wall facing the main street. We design to those rules from the start.
The battery rebate
The rebate, in plain English.
A battery charges from your solar during the day so the house runs on it at night, instead of buying that power from the grid. The federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program takes money off the price of the battery.
Straight off the price
$4,170* off an 18kWh battery, taken off your quote. SIPENERGY claims it as the accredited installer, so there's no form for you to fill in later.
It goes in with solar
The battery has to be installed with solar panels: the ones already on your roof, or new ones fitted at the same time.
Smaller from 1 January
From 1 January 2027 the same battery gets $3,490*. The install date decides the amount, not the date you sign.
*18kWh battery installed with solar by 31 Dec 2026, federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program. $3,490 from 1 Jan 2027. Depends on battery size and certificate prices.
How it works
One power bill. A straight answer.
01
Tell us your power bill
What you pay a quarter tells us roughly how much power the house uses, which is what decides whether a battery is worth it.
02
We tell you straight
Someone from our Sydney team calls back with whether a battery suits your home, what size, and what the rebate takes off. If it doesn't stack up, we say so.

What SIPENERGY customers say
Frequently asked
Batteries in Elizabeth Bay, answered.
I live in an apartment in Elizabeth Bay. Can I get a battery?
Sometimes. A battery needs a legal spot (not inside the living area) and, if it or the panels go on common property, the owners corporation's approval. Tell us about your building and we'll tell you straight whether it's possible.
I rent in Elizabeth Bay. Can I still get the rebate?
Solar and a battery are fixed to the building, so it's your landlord's decision. If they're interested, send them our way and we'll quote them, rebate included.
How much is the battery rebate?
$4,170* off an 18kWh battery installed with solar. It's the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program and it comes straight off the price on your quote, so there's nothing to claim later. On 1 January 2027 it drops to $3,490* for the same battery, and the install date decides which amount you get.
Do I need solar panels already?
The battery has to be installed with solar. If you already have panels, we can usually add a battery to them. If you don't, we put panels and a battery in together, and the solar earns its own federal rebate too.
What's a kWh, and what size battery do I need?
A kWh (kilowatt-hour) is how much energy a battery holds. 10kWh suits a lot of family homes; households with evening air con, a pool or an electric car often go larger. Your power bill shows how much you use and when, which is why we ask for one before recommending a size.
Will a battery pay for itself?
It depends on your tariff, how much power you use in the evening, and whether you have solar already. A battery stores solar from the middle of the day so the house can run on it at night instead of buying from the grid. Savings vary from home to home, and we'll give you our honest read rather than a guaranteed number.
Will a battery keep the lights on in a blackout?
It can, if the system is set up for backup. Not every installation is, so tell us if that matters to you and we'll design for it.
Which batteries does SIPENERGY install?
Sigenergy is the brand we recommend first, followed by GoodWe and Sungrow, and we fit the Tesla Powerwall 3 on request.
Who does the install in Elizabeth Bay?
Our own licensed electricians, from Sydney. SIPENERGY was started by Nicholas Sipple, an electrician, and every install carries a 12-year workmanship warranty on top of the battery maker's own.
The small print
- 18kWh battery installed with solar by 31 Dec 2026, federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program. $3,490 from 1 Jan 2027. Depends on battery size and certificate prices. The rebate is a federal government program, not a SIPENERGY discount. It is applied at the point of sale by SIPENERGY as the accredited installer. Amounts depend on usable battery capacity, installation date and certificate prices, and the program pays a reduced rate on capacity above 14kWh. Indicative only. The 3,000+ figure counts solar and battery systems SIPENERGY has installed for homes and businesses.
- Savings vary with your tariff, your household usage and your system. Nothing on this page is a guarantee of a financial outcome. Your cooling-off rights under Australian Consumer Law are unaffected.
